There is more than just skiing at Les Menuires to captivate and excite you! All around the mountain resort there are fun after-ski activities to try out. Here are our top five activities away from the daytime ski runs to factor into your itinerary for a truly memorable holiday in the French Alps.
Skiing Les Menuires is a rewarding experience for skiers of all skill levels, but there is more to a skiing holiday than just getting out on the regular slopes. If you are heading to the internationally famous Three Valleys region of France to ski in the powder snow, then you ought to know about the top five after-ski activities in Les Menuires. When the sun goes down, you’ve got to work the cramps out of the body somehow, and partaking in some of these activities will help you do just that.
The Roc ‘n’ Bod Toboggan Run
If you are a thrill seeker, and we know you are, then a turn or two down the Roc ‘n’ Bod Toboggan Run is a must. The ride is accessed by the gondola at Le Roc des 3 Marches and takes you for a rollicking ride over 4 kilometres with more than 20 twists and turns, and a rise and fall of more than 450 metres. Bargain deals are to be had during happy hour on Sundays and Mondays between 2:30 and 5:30pm.
Pony Rides in the Snow
For a truly magical winter experience, take a break from skiing Les Menuires and take a pony ride instead. These begin in the nearby village of Villarenger and operate from Tuesday through to Friday.
Snow Scooting La Croisette
After a busy day skiing the Les Menuires slopes, head back up to the mountain to take an exciting evening tour on new generation snow scooters. Starting out in the La Croisette district, this is your chance to zoom around the mountain on the latest model snow scooters which emit very little noise or carbon emissions. If you get a buzz when you glide down the mountain on skis, imagine the thrill provided by the scooters!
Dog Sledding Tours
Have you secretly always dreamed of yelling “get up!” to a bunch of huskies? Well, you can fulfil that wish with a thrilling dog sledding tour into the forests around San Martin and Les Menuires, with a professional dog sledder and his dogs. The tour can also be arranged to take in local sights along the way such as traditional mountain mills and shepherd huts.
Come to the Cabaret
“What good is sitting alone in your room? Come hear the music play,” someone very wise once sang. In town you can take in a meal and cabaret show after a hard day on the slopes skiing Les Menuires. The Medze-ry at Les Menuires offers a little wine, a little dining, a little song and dance and a whole lot of fun on a night out. Other great spots for dining around the region include: Le “K” one of the swankier choices in the area, Les Sonnailles, La Sapinère and Chalet La Loy in nearby San Martin.
